Nearly Perfect is a focused, illustrated guide to building enduring products.
Why do certain products effortlessly dominate their competition? Why do some seemingly sophisticated products flounder and fail? This book explains why.
Nearly Perfect explores problems and solutions from first principles, then applies this foundation to products and what makes them great. The best products in the world benefit from compounding loops, which we lay out in a practical, easy-to-understand framework.
Written for designers, engineers, and investors, the book shows how lasting products—like the iPhone, Netflix, and the Model T—share a common set of principles. We'll go through each principle and use them to develop the taste required to build something not just best in class, but Nearly Perfect.
Excited to share after much toiling that Nearly Perfect is ready for purchase. This was a labor of love: designed, written and illustrated by yours truly. I kicked off this book trying to figure out why certain products failed while others succeeded. Even when the ones that failed seemed to be better, more performant, or universally loved. The book lays out the whole thing. Complete with illustrations. It's a fun, quick read (118 pages) that will also give you something to think about. Best for anyone creating a product or solution to something. But open to all.
